1. TRUGLO Tritium: Best Sight for Glock 34

The TRUGLO Tritium Handgun Glow-in-the-Dark Night Sight set is a top performing night sight found at a decent price.

In fact, the amount of light these give off is unlike any other night sight I’ve tried.

Want to hear more?

Pull up a seat. Let’s talk.

Brightness & Clarity

The TRUGLO night sights are adaptable to any lighting or weather condition.

The sights are made up of tritium, a radioactive chemical that glows green all the time. It’s especially noticeable in the dark.

Don’t worry, it’s radioactive, but it’s not harmful to you.

You see, they’re made of the same stuff used in wristwatches to make the hour and minute hands light up.

Neat, right?

Your sights will stay lit. No batteries or extra power source required.

Plus, the white paint around the tritium posts shows up really clearly in the daylight.

This means that no matter the lighting conditions, my eyes adjust readily and easily to the sights’ glow, giving me more accuracy, precision, and speed when shooting.

Design and Durability

The TRUGLO Tritium night sights for handguns are designed for reliability, versatility, and precision.

In fact, the set is steel constructed.

Now, don’t read that and automatically think it’s an invitation to throw them around and stomp on them to test them out. They’re durable. Not indestructible.

The steel protects the tritium rods too.

The set uses a square-notch sighting style. This is ideal for precision.

Plus, these sights fit standard holsters and won’t snag. This snag-free design allows for quick and easy access; crucial for unexpected and critical moments.

Keep reading to find out about a little secret I used to increase my sights’ durability.

Installation

Installation is fairly easy and straightforward.

Imagine if all of life was like that?

It took me about fifteen minutes to swap out my factory sights on my 34 and install the TRUGLO Tritium Night Sights.

That said, depending on your skill level and access to tools, taking your sights to the local gunsmith for installation may be worthwhile.

2. Trijicon RMR Type 2: Best Red Dot Sight for Glock 34

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is far and away the best Glock 34 sight money can buy.

I have hand tested dozens of sights, and the Trijicon RMR Type 2 is the clear winner. While other reflex sights are only useful on competition handguns, the unique design of this red dot makes it the best sight for the marksman gun AND for the personal protective weapon.

What makes the Trijicon RMR Type 2 so effective and versatile?

Let me break it down…

Glass clarity & Reticle

The RMR Type 2 has near-perfect clarity.

I am very impressed with the glass quality. Good quality glass means clear, accurate shots, every time. The glass is fully multi-coated to ensure that clarity.

This scope is fully adjustable with 8 different brightness settings. That means the 3.25 MOA red dot reticle is eye-catching in all lighting.

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 also has an awesome automatic adjustment feature. This means less button pressing and more shooting!

Looking for more MCG reflex optics? Check out this handy list of the top choices.

Eye Relief & Field of View

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 has nearly unlimited eye relief.

Why does that matter?

Long eye relief and a good field of view mean accurate shots from any position. With a personal protection weapon, you may need to shoot from a less-than-ideal position. The Trijicon RMR Type 2’s great field of view makes it easy to shoot center mass from any angle.

If you can put the dot on the target, you are good to go.

Durability

Trijicon built the RMR Type 2 with durability in mind.

My favorite thing about the Trijicon RMR Type 2 is the curved top design. This design keeps the lens safe from drops, bangs, and bumps. I think one of the Rs in RMR must stand for “Rugged!”

The aluminum frame is both lightweight and hardy, so you don’t have to worry about damaging the optic if you drop your weapon.

In fact, the RMR Type 2 is so lightweight, it would be perfect for use with an AR pistol.

Elevation & Windage

Adjustments are straightforward with the Type 2.

The dial doesn’t require much pressure to turn. That means adjustments in the field are easy to do.

One thing I didn’t like was the turret scale. Each click is one whole MOA. Most of the time, that isn’t a problem for a handgun sight, but it’s not as precise as some other optics out there.

I love the audible click on the turrets. No need to squint at the dial, because I can easily tell what adjustments I’ve made.

Mounting

The good news with the Trijicon RMR Type 2 is compatible with a variety of rails and mounts.

The bad news is, to put it on your Glock, you will need a Glock mounting kit. I used this Glock mounting set from DDP Titanium.

I highly recommend getting a gunsmith to do this for you. If you are going to buy the best in class Glock sights, you owe it to yourself to have them installed by a professional.

Is the Trijicon RMR Type 2 worth it?

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is the best red dot sight for a Glock 34. This RMR is a little more expensive than some other options, but it’s worth every penny.

It’s full of features:

  • Rugged build
  • Eye-catching reticle
  • Fully Multi-coated glass
  • Lightweight aluminum frame
  • 8 Auto-adjusting lighting options
  • Fix magnification with factory set parallax adjustment

I’ve tried lots of optics for my Glock 34, and I could not be happier with the Trijicon RMR Type 2. With more features than the Type 1 and a hardier design, I consider the Trijicon RMR Type 2 the Best in Show for Glock reflex sights.

3. TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic: Best for Competition Sights

The TRUGLO TFX is a top-notch professional sighting system for competition.

Whether I’m in total darkness, low light, or bright sunlight; shooting IDPA or gunning small contests with friends, I trust the TRUGLO TFX to deliver a clear sight picture, and it’s never failed me.

Read on to find out what makes it great.

Sight Picture

The TFX uses a convenient three-dot sight picture.

I’ve been using the three-dot sighting system since I was a kid. It’s always been the familiar standard, and I’m happy that TRUGLO included it with this sight.

Note: this is a pistol sight, so if you are going to be competing with rifles, a Burris AR-536 or Vortex Crossfire II might be more appropriate.

Some may argue that other sight styles are faster, but I personally have no problem keeping up with the crowd (and sometimes leading them) at competition shoots. There’s no need to learn a new sight picture. Sometimes, it’s better to stick with what you know.

If you do prefer another alignment, the rear sight can be swapped out for something more familiar. You could even tell your gunsmith to only change the front sight.

Visibility

The fiber dots are quite bright, in either daylight or darkness.

A tritium capsule is installed behind each rod, making them put off their own light without a battery. I tested them in my closet at night with the lights out, and the rods glow very brightly.

During the day, that might not be enough, so the fiber optics in the sight also capture ambient light and redirect it to keep the picture even brighter. Any time there is ambient light, the posts appear perfectly bright.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, the front sight also includes a bright insert around the dot for easier identification. I hardly notice it in the heat of competition, so I could take it or leave it. But it’s there, and sometimes helpful when things get really dark

.It’s the perfect combination of tritium and fiber optic technologies in one sight. Day or night, the

TRUGLO TFX always looks great.

At IDPA competitions, this means I have a reliable sight picture no matter my surroundings.

Durability

I need a rugged and reliable sight, especially when every shot counts,

The TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic sight delivers just that.

The all-steel housing around the tritium capsule is shock-proof and super rugged. It’s manufactured to be as strong or stronger than typical iron sights. It’s also coated in a rust-resistant Fortress Finish.

This means that I don’t have to worry about my “irons” breaking in competition, even if I drop the pistol and run it over with my truck. So far I haven’t been able to damage the finish.

Adjustability

In general, iron sights aren’t adjustable.

That said, there is an adjustable version available for most Glock pistols. No such luck for my Springfield XDM. That’s fine with me, though, as I hate fiddling with adjustments on pistol irons.

Just make sure you get the right version for your pistol. TRUGLO has a comparison chart for reference.

Also note that the adjustable version is for elevation changes only.

Installation

It’s important to have the TRUGLO TFX mounted by a competent gunsmith.

I took mine to the local gunsmith for install and zeroing. These sights use a standard dovetail mount, so you will need the right tools and know-how if you want to install them yourself.

The mounts are solid. Since having mine professionally installed, I haven’t needed to adjust them at all.

Is the TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic worth it?

The TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic sight set is an incredible set of quality pistol irons.

They’ve got:

  • Durable protective coating
  • Familiar 3-dot sight picture
  • Fiber optic for low light or daylight
  • Sturdy high-grade steel construction
  • Tritium charged for no-light conditions
  • Dovetail mounting for durable fitting to your pistol

I can tell you that after getting these mounted on my IDPA pistol, I won’t compete without them again.

So if you’re looking for a set of pistol sights for IDPA or other shooting competitions, look no further than the TRUGLO TFX Pro.

4. Trijicon Night Sight Set: Best Night Sights for Glock 34

If you’re like me, your Glock is your home defense sidearm.

Because most break-ins happen at night, you will need to outfit that Glock with accurate night sights to be effective as a self-defense tool.

That’s why I decided to try out the Trijicon Night Sight Set.

After mounting and testing them on my personal Glock, I can tell you that these are the best night sights for the Glock 34. Want to know why?

Let me walk you through it…

Sights

Don’t let the name fool you. These sights work great in the daylight, too.

Tritium sights are ideal for use when you don’t know what the light conditions will be. Trijicon Night Sights even work in transitional lighting.

The Trijicon night sight set includes three-dot tritium lamp illumination. Tritium isn’t a light, but a photoreactive compound. That means it’s bright at night and not in the day.

These sights are easy to lock onto at night. The yellow glow paint on the front post and the bright green tritium lamps make these sights eye-catching for fast target acquisition.

Accuracy

The U-shaped notch provides a clear sight picture and doesn’t obscure my target.

The eye-catching posts make for really fast target acquisition.

My main issue with the Trijicon Night Sights is that they trade a little bit of accuracy for speed. If you hope to win a marksmanship competition at fifty yards, iron sights might not be for you.

For you budding competitive marksmen, consider this scope for your 22 pea shooter.

Durability

So, how durable are they, really?

If you have used iron sights before, you know that generally speaking, iron sights don’t really break or wear out unless you smash them with a hammer.

Tritium is a radioactive compound with a half-life of 12 years. Expect your glowy bits to glow for about that long. Highly durable sapphire caps protect the tritium rods from any damage.

However, the photoreactive paint can degrade over time if you clean the sights with an acetone-based cleaner.

To make sure your sights last as long as possible, use a cleaner without acetone. I use Break-free CLP for cleaning and oiling.

Mounting

Trijicon recommends all their products be installed by a gunsmith, but I’m a rebel with a gun bench and a sight pusher…

I had no problem with the install. A light tap with the sight pusher, and I was ready to shoot. You will need a nut driver and your choice of thread locker. I use Loctite Blue 242.

  • Protective design protects threads from rusting and corroding

Is the Trijicon Night Sight Set worth it?

Trijicon night sights are a good deal for any Glock owner. But if you own a Glock for self-defense? Well, let’s just say, when compared with the price I put on my life, these sights may as well be free,

This set gets you:

  • Extreme durability
  • Fast target acquisition
  • 10+ years of glow time
  • Great visibility in all lighting conditions

If you are looking for a durable and quick sight solution for low light home defense, you can’t do much better than the Trijicon Night Sight Set.
