In this guide I’m going to show you the best eotech magnifier.

In fact:

These are the same magnifiers that many optic experts and competitive shooters use.

The best part?

I’ve sorted the magnifiers by use. So whether you’re on a budget or need a solid eotech 3x magnifier, you’ll find it here.

Let’s get started!

The 3 Best Eotech Magnifier

If you’re pressed on time, here’s a quick list of the best eotech magnifier:

  1. EOTECH G33: Best Magnifier for EOTech
  2. UTG 3X: Best for Increasing Magnification on a Budget
  3. Vortex VMX-3T: Best Vortex Magnifier with EOTech

1. EOTECH G33: Best Magnifier for EOTech

The EOTech G33 is the best magnifier I’ve ever used.

And I’m not the only person who feels that way. The G33 is trusted by SOCOM and other US military troops in battlefields all over the world.

But it’s not just for soldiers; the G33 is available to you as well.

Read on to find out what makes it so great.

Built Tough

The EOTech magnifier is my first choice for my favorite rifle.

The tube is gas purged and sealed tight so it will never fog up or take in moisture. The case is rock solid, and the glass is plenty tough enough to withstand desert winds.

I’ve never lost my point of aim with the sight, and the mount can withstand any conditions you find yourself in. In fact, the US military has put that dependability to the test again and again in harsh deserts, jungle environments, and urban battle zones around the world. And if it’s good enough for Uncle Sam, it’s good enough for me!

My old EOTech had a flip-out button that was a touch faster to deploy, but the sturdy push-over mount in the G33 is rugged and intuitive.

Glass Clarity

The glass is super clear, even while using night vision.

The glass for the EOTech G33 is built for more than maximum light transmission. The coatings are rugged, stand up to any kind of weather, and have anti-reflection properties to keep the troops from accidentally giving away their positions to the enemy.

I can tell you that it meets all of these requirements. Well, there aren’t enemy snipers looking for a glint from my glass at the range, but you get the picture.

Eye Relief & Eye Box

Eye relief for the G33 is right at 2.2 inches.

I wouldn’t keep my eye that close to a scope on my hunting rifle, but on a short battle rifle it isn’t a big deal. I had to move my Aimpoint forward from where I normally keep it to accommodate the magnifier, so it’s right there in my face anyway.

If you are looking for something lightweight and longer range for a heavier rifle, check out these lightweight scopes.

Red Dot Compatibility

I use the EOTech G33 with my Aimpoint T2, and it works great.

Aimpoint Micro T-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight with Standard Rail Mount - 2 MOA - 200170
  • Advanced objective lens system for better light transmission and unmatched optical clarity
  • 2 MOA dot with 4 Night vision compatible settings and 8 Daylight brightness settings
  • Standard Mount for Picatinny and Weaver Mount Included

This is a magnifier built for a battle rifle, and it’s perfect for my AR.

If you just need something for plinking hogs and coyotes, check these scopes out.

The magnifier would work better with an EOTech holographic sight, and here’s why. The holographic reticles from EOTech aren’t magnified with the rest of the view. The red dot on my Aimpoint is. A 3MOA dot becomes a 9MOA dot under 3x magnification. The magnified dot can sometimes cover small targets. Holographic reflex sights like the EOTech EXPS3 produce a dot that doesn’t get magnified.

The important thing is that the positioning of the EOTech G33 can be changed to work with almost any red dot. Just sight in your red dot, and then move the magnifier up or down until the dot is centered under magnification. In fact, there is also an adjustment for horizontal movement, too. This means that the EOTech G33 will provide dependable magnification to whatever red dot or holosight that you want to use.

Mounting & Operation

The adjustable mount is one of my favorite features.

The EOTech G33 mounts easily to a weaver rail, and the fit can be adjusted by a screw on the bottom of the mount itself. Tighten it up until you’re happy with how it sits, and you’re done.

The large lever on the side of the mount allows for quick detachment, which is great if you need to take the magnifier off in a hurry. There’s even a locking button to keep from accidentally detaching the mount if the weapon is dropped or the lever snagged.

I love the diopter adjustment, and in my opinion a magnifier without this feature is simply annoying. With a quick twist, you can focus the aiming reticle from your reflex sight. This in turn means no more blurry dot when viewed through a magnifier.

Is the EOTech G33 worth it?

If you want to extend the effective range of your battle rifle, The EOTech G33 is for you.

EOTech G33 Features:

  • Quick detach
  • Gas purged optic
  • Battle proven design
  • Easy flip over operation
  • Compatible with many red dots
  • Military grade coated glass lenses
  • Diopter Adjustment for a crisp reticle

In short, it instantly transforms my short-range AR with a red dot sight into a medium range rifle. Target acquisition swaps from 100 yards max to over 500 yards instantly.

It also comes with a 10 year manufacturer warranty.

The only real downside to the magnifier is the price, but the EOTech G33 simply outperforms everything else out there, so for me, it’s worth every penny.

2. UTG 3X: Best for Increasing Magnification on a Budget

The UTG 3X is a high-quality magnifier at a good price.

In fact, I think it’s the best way to increase your magnification on a budget. I’ve been using one with my TRS-25 red dot, and I couldn’t be happier.

Glass Clarity

As far as glass clarity, I was skeptical when I first pulled it out of the box. But when I tried it on my rifle for the first time…

I was pleasantly surprised at how clear the picture was when I looked through it.

The lenses are multi-coated, which provides clarity to the magnifier. And it didn’t change the red dot into a large red smudge. The sight-picture was clear, the red dot was clear…I couldn’t have asked for better.

Eye Relief and the Eye Box

Once the magnifier was mounted on my rifle, I had about 2 inches of eye relief.

I usually prefer a little more space, especially since I wear glasses, but the 2 inch eye relief was workable. This distance is pretty standard, considering that you have to mount a magnifier in front of your other optic. And it’s plenty of room to avoid scope bite on my AR.

Plus, the magnifier provides a 30% wider field of view, which is a nice bonus.

The UTG 3X is quite sturdy.

The scope tube is anodized for strength and durability. Basically, this means the outer surface of the magnifier was treated with an electrochemical process that increases the thickness of the metal.

What does this mean for you?

The magnifier will have a long lifespan in the field. It won’t chip or peel, and it’s corrosion resistant.

This means that I can take the UTG into any conditions and not worry about damaging it.

The UTG 3X gives you a fixed 3X zoom when upright.

Fixed zoom is the best for rapid target acquisition. No fiddling with zoom settings. Just flip the magnifier up, point, and shoot.

If you want a lightweight scope with variable magnification, take a look at the Vortex Crossfire II.

This magnifier is all about versatility with your sights. The ability to increase magnification with a simple action is fantastic. And the 3X magnification is more than enough zoom for my needs for short to mid-distance shooting.

Mounting and Operation

The 3X has a built in picatinny rail mount.

This made mounting it on my rifle a quick and easy process.. I just placed it on my AR’s rail and tightened it down with the provided hex key.

To operate the flip-to-side action, just pull back on the scope and push it to the side. Simple as that. It’s the same for returning it to the vertical position.

The magnifier is held in place by a spring. The tension is solid, which means you don’t have to worry about your magnifier flipping up or down when you don’t want it to.

Also, the UTG 3X has a quick release lever. I like the easy on-and-off action because it makes it easy to use this magnifier with my different AR platforms.

Some people have reported seeing some wobble with their magnifier in the upright position. However, I’ve been using mine for a few months now and haven’t had any issues at all with stability.

Is the UTG 3X Worth It?

The UTG 3X is a high-quality magnifier at a low-budget price.

Here’s why. It has:

  • Highly durable
  • Multi-coated lens
  • Quick-detach lever
  • 30% wider field of view
  • Adjustable to work with any red dot
  • Flip-to-side mechanism for fast transition between 1X and 3X

Plus, the whole thing is covered by UTG’s “The Best Never Rest” Lifetime Warranty.

So if you’re looking for a way to add some magnification to your red dot or holosight but don’t want to spend a fortune, look no further than the UTG 3X Magnifier.

3. Vortex VMX-3T: Best Vortex Magnifier with EOTech

Two words come to mind when I think about the Vortex Optics VMX-3T Magnifier with Built-in Flip Mount:

1. Simple.

2. Awesome.

It’s a top choice for fixed magnifiers.

In fact, it’s the best Vortex magnifier to use with an EOTech holosight or red dot scope.

Want to know why?

Keep reading to find out.

Glass Clarity & Reticle

The glass quality and clarity is pretty much the same, if not better, than the competition.

What’s more?

The Vortex VMX-3T is half the price of similar magnifiers on the market.

The glass is solid and crystal clear, just like I’ve come to expect from Vortex.

The lenses are fully multicoated. I live in an area with minimal shade and full, hot sun. I needed something that would help with the glare and reflection I was getting on my EOTech.

To be honest, I was tired of constantly adjusting my brightness setting.

The VMX-3T magnifier helped tremendously with light transmission. At 3x, I notice a big difference in the picture dimness and the amount of reflection I get. The contrast is higher. The glare is lower.

With a simple turn of the focus ring, I can adjust my view. The image quality is consistent and impeccably clear, no matter the weather.

In fact, since I use it with a holosight, my reticle doesn’t enlarge or magnify. I don’t have to worry about my target being obscured or my alignment being off.

The image quality is incredibly sharp. It’s clear. It’s centered. What more could you ask for in a rifle optic?

Eye Relief & Eye Box

One thing I learned is that the red dot doesn’t have to be perfectly aligned with the magnifier to get a crisp, accurate shot.

Say what?!

When my EOTech holosight is zeroed, it looks a little off center when I look through my magnifier. But, believe it or not, it doesn’t change my point of impact.

The eye relief is 2.2 inches. This is a little short for a hunting rifle, but sits nicely in front of my EOTech on my AR.

I’ll admit, I was hesitant to use a magnifier at first. I was worried that the alignment with my EOTech red dot would throw my field of view off.

It didn’t.

The picture is full, clear and, quite frankly, awesome.

There’s no blurring or black edges in my eye box and my shots are incredibly accurate.

The VMX-3T is strong and sturdy.

It’s made with solid block aluminum. It’s also hard coat anodized. Plus, the seals are nitrogen-purged.

What’s all that mean?

It means that the VMX-3T is anything but flimsy.

This magnifier is fog proof and waterproof. It’s a durable piece of equipment that won’t corrode and weaken over time.

No wetness. No dust. No itty bitty debris. Goodbye to all things that impede your view and lessen your clarity.

The magnifier gives you the freedom and reliability to get out there, in any weather condition, and deliver.

Adjustment and Centering

The adjustment knobs on the magnifier are simple and easy to use.

In fact, the centering screws turn really smoothly.

The VMX-3T allows for easy vertical and horizontal adjustments. If I want the reticle more centered, I just turn the centering screws that are on the top and side of the magnifier for a quick, seamless adjustment.

The VMX-3T provides fixed 3x magnification to your red dot or holosight.

In fact, using this magnifier, all it takes is a push of a button to triple your effective range!

Depending on my target and the distance, I can engage or disengage the magnifier.

If I don’t need the extra magnification, I just flip it over to the left.

Actually, you can configure the 3T to flip to either the left or the right, depending on your preference.

Once it’s where you want it, it stays in place. It has a lock feature that keeps the magnifier set and sturdy for long range shots. I feel confident knowing that it’s not going to wobble or move, especially at tough distances.

Mounting & Accessories

The VMX-3T comes with the flip mount and necessary screws needed for installation and use.

It also comes with a shim plate so that it can be adjusted to meet the shooter’s needs.

Straight out of the box, the 3T mounts at absolute co-witness height with your optic. This is what I prefer. If you want a lower third co-witness height, attach the shim plate in between the mount and the magnifier.

One thing to mention: lens caps aren’t included. I went out and got a FC-3 Vortex Optics Cover and it fits like a glove.

Is the VMX-3T worth it?

The Vortex VMX-3T is a fantastic red dot magnifier at an incredible price.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Fogproof
  • Waterproof
  • Lightweight
  • 3x magnification
  • Push-button flip mount
  • Distance shot accuracy
  • Fully multi-coated lenses
  • Solid block aluminum construction
  • Quick engagement and disengagement

And if all that wasn’t enough, the Vortex VMX-3T is backed by Vortex’s unlimited lifetime warranty.

So if you want a versatile, durable, and precise magnifier at half the cost, get the Vortex VMX-3T. It won’t disappoint.
